Apple Fax disappeared

I bought a used PowerBook 3400 that came with a PC Card modem and Apple Telecom software.  When I launched Apple Fax, I got a message that the Apple Telecom log in the preference folder was damaged and should be thrown away, however, I could find no such file.  When I tried to fax my first document, I got a message that the fax could not be sent because it could not find Apple Fax and I should load it onto the startup disk, however, it already was on the startup disk.  I reloaded the Telecom software and rebuilt the desktop.  When I went to open Apple Fax, it was nowhere to be found.  In checking the Apple web site, I can find no reference to any such program.  The document that came with Apple Telecom makes no mention of it, yet I cannot send a fax without it.  Argh!  Why will Fax Sender not work without it, why is it not in the documentation and where do I get it?

What kind of PC card modem are you using? My best guess is that the particular software for the card is missing. How is the card mounted on your desktop? As a generic icon or as a specific icon from a manufacturer?

In the case of a Global Village fax, reinstall their software and try Global Village Fax Center.

Neither the card nor the documentation that came with it identifies the manufacture.  It simply says 28800 PC Card.  The icon says MC218 Card and I would judge to be generic.

I would still like to get a copy of Apple Fax since that is what it calls for if I could find how to get it.  (a search on the Apple site came up with nothing)
The MC217 and MC218 cards are made by a company called COM One. The MC217 is a 14.4 kbps data/fax PC card and the MC218 is a 28.8 kbps data/ 14.4 kbps fax PC Card. An update is available on the COM One web page for the MC218
which upgrades it to a 33.6 kbps data modem.

The info on COM One is nice, but I did not find anything on their web page that helped with Apple Fax.
