3Com OfficeConnect 511 configuration

Despite all the manuals that came with the thing I keep having my doubts about the correct configuration because there is no way you can way the darn thing is doing exactly. Can anyone tell how to configure this thing so that it accepts all outgoing traffic and dials the ISP and takes care of the connection/communication between the client and the internet?

1. You do have real ip addressing all over since I believe that the 511 cannot do proxy / address translation?

I think I know what you mean. I know that the 511 has the possibility to introduce a DNS ip address, but we don't use it. We do use our own DNS but that's another problem we have to solve later on.

    2. Do you have Authentication working on the router - does the router connect for a few seconds or a minute or so?

Yes, it does. A minute and half to be exact.

    3. do you have correct client setup. At least - correct IP address, correct gateway address ( 511), correct sub net mask

Yes, we have.
