do i need to connect the cr-622 to the sound board i already
have another cd hooked up?

No you do not need if you do not want to play music. your other cd is configured as CD, the CR-622 should be configured as AUX, so the volume will be AUX under volume control and that should be if you Sound card support more than 1 CD, if it have AUX or VIDEO, you can use it for the second CD

FYI you can also attach it as a slave with no need to hook it to the sound board
