Visual Data Manager (Date/Time format)

Using VB 5.0
I am using the Visual Data Manger to create a database and am declaring a field with date/time format.  My problem is when I go to add records to the database, it only allows me 5 spaces for the date entry (I need at least 6 spaces mmddyy).  I am not sure how to increase this field limit?

If the field type is date/time the size of the field will be defaulted to 8 and cannot be changed.

The field size shows 8 when building the database, but when I go to enter the data it only allows 5 characters.

I dont see a chance that it will only take 5 characters. Let me ask you one thing! are you using a filed on a form with some kind of validation or some restriction on the field to take only a legth of 5 chars. you might have specified MaxLength to 5 or some kind of validation. Please check
