I have installed win 98 on a hp8370.  Everything works fine except that win98 didn't pick up on the sound or modem.  In device manager there are 2 items flagged: PCI multimedia Audio, and PCI Multimedia Communications Device.  The sound card in question is an ensonic pci audio card for which I need drivers specifically for the HP version of this card.  I have searched HP's site to no avail.  I have the drivers for the modem but it seems that the modem and sound are linked somehow..  Does anyone have any ideas???

coderock,

You can read about your soundcard here on this site.

http://www.ensoniq.com/multimedia/mm_html/html/driver_intro.htm

The driver download is located on this page

http://www.ensoniq.com/multimedia/mm_html/html/hewlett_packard.htm

It says that these drivers will not work with that pciaudio card however the download on the second page that I gave you is for Hewlett Packard computers only and I believe that it is the correct one if not  you will have to look on "Creative's" site.

coderock,

Sorry I hadn't found the creative drivers and I submitted my answer after doing that I thought that if I was going to give you an answer that it better be complete.

The site with the driver download for your card from Creative is as follows:

http://www.soundblaster.com/wwwnew/tech/ftp/ftp-sbpci.html#ep

Obviously it is the Ensoniq PCI64 and you need the Win95/98 Driver not the NT4.0 driver.
