Delphi Client Server

When implementing a delphi client server application.
Does this mean thin-client?
Do I need to install anthing on the client side?
I dont' want to when i have like more then 100 workstations
hooked up to our server.
I didn't like it when i discovered i had to include
all sorts of files to support BDE.
Your professional help is welcomed.

Currently, I am using TOPAZ to replace BDE; however,
when we get more heavy duty and move to a client-server
environment, i want to know if client-sever means
thin client.

Thanks!!!

anybody have any recommendation on the type of database
server to run? MS SQL? INTERBASE?

C/S isn't what you normally referer as thin-client, it's more like the step before thin-client but after your TOPAZ.
What database you should be running depends of a number of factors, like what expertice do you have inhouse. MS SQL or Oracle are the most common.
There a a number of 3-part components, that allows your Delphi program to talk to databases without BDE, check the following sites:
http://www.sqldirect-soft.com/
http://www.allroundautomations.nl/

We are using DOA from Allroundautomations to access Oracle and are very happy with them.

If you like to take a look a thin-clients, you should take a look at MidWare at http://www.rtfm.be/fpiette/midwareuk.htm
