Server Side components

I have developed some pages with the DtDatePicker active x control on them. These active x controls do not run on any machines unless VB has been installed on them. I have installed the InterDev Server Side components, but the DTPicker does not appear to be among them. How Do I get the extra components installed on my server?

If you know the name of the .DLL file or .OCX file containing the ActiveX control, then copy it into the c:\winnt\system32 directory and then type the following command from that directory.

regsvr32 <activex_file_name>.dll

This will register the component into the registry.  You should then be able to access it.  Keep in mind that if the control uses additional VB .DLLs not on your server, you may get an error message regarding them and have to do the same thing (i.e. registering them on the server).

If you do not know the name of the .DLL file, then you could use regedit to go into the registry and search for the name of the ActiveX control.  Somewhere among the many keys will be the location/name of the .DLL file.
