Finding other apps.

I want to give the user the opportunity to edit a text file in an external text editor.  I want to find out what other applications the user has available (ie. MS Word, Notepad, WordPad, etc).  Any suggestions of how I can check the users system for these?

Look in the registry or do a SHELL to a DIR command

SHELL ( environ("comspec") & " /C DIR C:\" & program & ".EXE /S /-P /B > C:\X", 1)
