Automation of Notes

I am connecting to notes through a Program written in VB....even though the passsword is hardcoded, I am still prompted to enter it. Any suggestions?

Also cannot set max length of Text fields on ODBC higher than 254 (need 4000). If this field is set higher than 254 I cannot connect to Notes at all.

You cannot avoid the password dialog in Lotus Notes easily. The only ways that I know to avoid password prompting is with NT integrated security or making a special kind of DLL using using Notes API programming techniques. Other way to avoid password prompting is making a connection from Notes Client. There is a check in the configuration that allows to share Notes login id with external programs (others than Notes Client, ie VB programs)
If you are using VB, you can workaround the ODBC limit problem using Notes authomation classes, or using a special library for VB to access Notes that Lotus provides.

Tell me if you need more details of any of this subjects.
