problems with appending text file to dbase

What if you have a dBASE file with a date field and
when you do append date to that file from a text file that
contains a date value of zero?  

I am using Topaz for my database engine so i guess this
differs.  I use the statement AppendFromSDF and i get
an error message saying 00/00/00 is an invalid date.
I can append using dbase III using the same files.
Don't know what to do.
can anybody help?

Maybe the date format is wrong.The date format is based on what your computer system is set.For example, the date format of  my computer system is "yy-M-d",so when I input "97-11-12" and "97/11/12",that is Nov 12,1997,they are both correct.Please try it.

or try to use a

try
  append_gnagnagna
except
  // do nothing
end;

block around the posting proc, that should prevent the occurence of the error-message (at least, in my paradox-apps it worx with adding a zero-date and zero-time to a date/time-field).
