Changing Outlook Express default data folder

I'd like to change the default data directories (for email and address book) in Outlook Express. How do I do that? Currently, both data files are in folders in c:\windows\application data\...

The setting can be changed with Regedit.
Open the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express branch and double click the Store Root entry. Don't forget to move all the files from the old location into the new one before you open Outlook express.

Oops! I edited the registry as you suggested. But now, I get this message when I click to read an email message:

Outlook Express: One or more of the messages could not be opened.

Also,

The message is not cached. Please connect to your server to download the message.

I am connected to my ISP and I do get new email, but can't read them. Please help again. Thank you.
