I´m trying to create a database usable as an address book for name lookup. I saw in a faq, that I just needed to have the views ($PeopleGroupsFlat) and ($PeopleGroupsHier) in my database. It says that I also would need the ($NamesFieldLookup) view if I wanted people to be able to begin typing  the name in the To: field and have Notes find it automatically in the address books and fill in the rest.
It says that in the person form , I should include these following fields in the person form:
FirstName (Type : Text)
LastName (Type : Text)
FullName (Type : Names)
MailAddress (Type : Text)
Type (Type : Text) with default value "Person"

I did this and then I added the database to the notes.ini file as a cascaded address book.

But, when I test it, composing a mail and clicking "Address", it shows me the name of the database, and if I click on it, it gives me the message : Invalid or non-existent document .
Do you know how I can make this work ?

Hi ptenuta,

After reviewing ur query I feel that u have created the address book database from the scratch instead of using the address book template Personal Address Book (pernames.ntf). If u use this template then u will not be required to make different views and forms manually.

Follow the following steps to create ur own address book.

1. File > Database > New
2. Enter the server name, title of the database and the database name.
3. Select the template name Personal Address Book from the list and save it.
4. Now add the name of the database in the notes.ini.

Hopefully this will solve ur problem.

For any further queries u can contact me at amit_dutta@hotmail.com

Best of luck

Did you have the first column of the view sorted?
