how do i find this *** other machine using samba....

I have 2 computers. 1 linux, one windows. I have installes samba on my linux computer. How can i check - and sortof register the win machine?

I have tried smbmount - man all the stuff +++

1. ping name on the win machine (make it 8 digits<)
2 smbclient -L winmachine
3. if you have smbconf edited and ready under /etc type
smbmount //winmachine/sharedir/ /mountpt -U username -P passwordonshare
