Well, the VC help has got several drawbacks:
1. It is available only if you buy VC (duh!)
2. It is static (not updated).
3. In versions 5 and 6 it is HUGE and SLOW.

You can find the help online (adresses points 1 and 2) at http://premium.microsoft.com/msdn/library (note that it requires a one-time registration process that is free and takes a couple of minutes).

You can also download the WIN32 docs as a winhelp file (adresses points 1 and 3) from http://www.inprise.com/devsupport/borlandcpp/patches/BC52HLP1.ZIP (it does not document all the latest bells and whistles though).

Between your compiler's help, the winhelp file and the MSDN site you'll be covered.
