How can I get the caption of all the active windows on my desktop ?

There is only one active window at any particular time. It is the frame window of the focused application.

However, to retrieve every window, you can use GetDesktopWindow() and use GetWindow( ..., GW_CHILD) or GetWindow( ..., GW_HWNDNEXT) to enumerate each window. Then you can use GetWindowText() to retrieve the text of that window.
