I am setting up a machine for my kids & would like to Hide
everything on the "Start Menu", except "Programs".
Also, I would like to Hide "Recycle Bin" & "My Computer" from appearing on the Desktop.
Anyone?

This is easily accomplished using a shareware program called winboost 98 (available at www.magellass.com w/30 days evaluation) and tweak UI which is on your win98 CD-ROM.  In Winboost the settings you want are under the start menu tab: "Hide favorites, documents, find, run, log off, shutdown, and the control panel & printers under settings tab"  The only thing you can't hide are a couple of the settings items (but you can get to those easily from other places anyways) and the help tab (does that matter?)
Install TweakUI as per instructions in article Q190643:
Insert your Windows 98 CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive, and close the Welcome screen if it appears.
Right-click the Tweakui.inf file in the Tools\Reskit\Powertoy folder, and then click Install.
Follow the instructions on your screen to install the TweakUI tool.

Once installed go to the desktop tab and unckech the icon next to recycle bin.  Unfortunately there is no way that I know of to remove the my computer icon although you may be able to hide all of your drives under the "my computer" tab of tweakui.
Hope this information is what you're looking for...

Another possibility is to use poledit (policy editor) and set up a user policy on the computer. Poledit has a wide range of what can be disabled, hidden, etc.

Good, Some of the problem is solved with TweakUI, However, "My Computer", "Find", "Settings", & "Help" are still un-hidden.
Thanks for the help if you don't know anymore.
Jeff.
