How can i use a unit in D4 if i only have the .DCU file and not the source? Delphi keeps asking about the .PAS file, so
i cannot use the DCU in a project nor in a package.

It depends on the version of your .DCU file, if it's not built by D4, there's no hope. Because Inprise change the DCU format between every major version of Delphi.
