I want to know how to access database from my C program on unix.I need to upload the data from a text file to sybase database.

You have to get an interface library from Sybase.

There is a free tool from Sybase called "Sybase SQL Anywhere for UNIX".  Get it from
  http://www.sybase.com/products/anywhere/ssaunixfrm.html
