Modem for LN4.5

My company is using Hayes Optima 33.6K modem for Lotus Notes dial up.  It becomes very difficult to buy Hayes 33.6K modem anymore.  Any recommendation about new modem, both external & PCMCIA?  I tried Hayes 56K modem but it doesn't work.

What do you mean when you say "it doesn't work"? What exactly is the problem? where does it fail?

Actually there is no Lotus Notes driver for Hayes 56K modem.  When I used "Generic" or "Auto-config" driver, it is not stable at all even 14.4K is setup.

One way is to buy a modem with a generic Rockwell chipset - there are MDM files for all the Rockwell chipset modems flying about.

Alternativley
3COM /USR modems always come with the right MDM files for Notes - if you get a 3COM / USR modem without the right drivers, phone their helpline and they will either Email them to you  - or tell you the exact location on the web site. I found them very helpful when trying to set up their 56k PC Card modem for some mobile users.
I wouldn't buy a modem from anywhere else.

One other point to mention about standard modem comms:

If you aredialing out through a telephone exchange - ISDX - this can cause your modem speed to top out at 14400 if it's an old exchange.
