What color depth is possible on this monitoe, ie 1451CLR

Color depth is not a function of the monitor, it is a function of the graphics board.  The monitor limits the refresh rate and picture size but not the color depth. You did not say if this was a LCD display or something other than a standard cathod ray tube.  If this is the case, reject this answer.
