probs with Oil Imperium + CCS64

I downloaded Oil Imperium (C64) last week and wanted to play it under CCS64.
Unfortunately, I just can see the (original game)intro and cannot proceed to the game itself...any ideas ?
I'm sure the game is complete, what am I doing wrong ?

I tapped **all** the keys without success !

FYI:
- got the latest CCS64 version
- game was downloaded from here:

Best regards

I am having trouble getting on to arnold, and turin doesn't have the file...possibly you could e-mail me the game?  I usually use PC64, and I find that any game that won't run on PC64 will run on CCS64, and vice versa.  Sometimes it is inexplicable, because sometimes a game runs on one emulator, but won't let you out of the title screen.  Maybe these games use undocumented 6510 opcodes, and possibly both emulators handle them differently??  I don't know exactly.
I got it to run successfully with CCS64.

However in PC64, it seemed to be stuck in the decrunching phase.

This game relies a lot on the disk drive, and as I am sure you know, CCS64
emulates the 1541 disk drive EXACTLY (the real downside)...

Just be patient and watch your scroll-lock LED on your keyboard...this
indicates that the disk drive is working.  You will have to flip the disk
before the game starts...

It's clear until you say "flip the disk..." ?!!!

How can I flip the disk ??? *wondering*

press f9 (i think), then select load a program, then select the other disk
Ahh...this is new to me !
I'll give it a try this evening...I'll be back.

-Stavi-
Did you get it to work?
Sorry for the delay...thought I would have posted a comment already =;-)

And *NO*, it didn't work...
I tried anything from changing disk, to load from tape, boot fast, boot normal...no chance !

Does it work with your emu ? (C64 I think ?)

-Stavi-
Yes, I got it to work...I will try again right now.

Did you get past the OUG intro screen?
Assuming you made it to the "tut mir leid" message where it asks you to flip the disk, do this when you get there:

1. PRESS F9
2. Select LOAD PROGRAM
3. Select OILIMP2.D64 and press enter
4. Select the Directory Header.  (The line that says "BRILLE-OUG  19 89").  It should already be selected anyway.
5. Press ESCAPE.
6. Now press your joystick button to confirm the flip...wait a few seconds and the game will load.

I'm at the end of my wisdom !

Here's how I proceed:
- press F9 to get the menu
- select "oil imperium OUG" and press enter (the file with approx. 1K)
- the OUG intro starts
- after a few seconds I press space and "reline software" appears
- press space again and a list of the game developers appears
- it disappears after a few seconds and the intro of oil imperium appears

From here I followed your to-do-list...without success !
Where the hell should I get the "tut mir leid" message ? I never got such a message.
And what to do if there isn't any joystick installed ? (do I need one ?)

This cannot be that difficult or am I sooo stuuuuuupid ?! =;-)

-Stavi-
To get past the screen you are talking about, you need to press the joystick button.  If you don't have a joystick installed, use the key on your keyboard that you assigned to the fire button.
Very sorry for the delay...big trouble here in good, old germany =;-))

As I said:
I followed your instructions (see my last posting) and pressed the joystick button (the buttons are assigned to the keys "ctrl" and "left-Alt" and "space bar")

No chance at all :-((
I won't get nothing than this f... introooOOOO !

You said it worked on your CCS64 ?
Please do me a favour and write down each step you do and post it here.
I swear I will follow each damn step hoping that it'll work...

Best regards

P.S.:
I would like to increase points if this will work :-))
Did you try the buttons for both joystick ports?

If so, tell me exactly what screen you are on when you can't get past it.

The game most probably needs to be in 1541 emulation mode.

The best c64 emulator for dos or windows seems to be Vice, try the homepage for the latest version.  I've had many games such as creatures 2 working on this emulator:-

http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~dsladic/vice/vice.html
CCS *will* run it.  I tried.
Guys,

please wait till monday...I have my exams this week.
I'll get back to you as soon I'm finished *puhhh*

Sorry !

Forgot about this Q until I checked my profile yesterday (uh...shame on me)

anywarlock:
I don't wanna use another emulator...since scrapdog was successful with CCS, I want to check this out before !

P.S.:
I have lot of work here so answer could last 2-4 days...
give me the points and i can send yo my emulator and my copy
Send me the stuff and you'll be awarded (in case it works...)
THX for help !

-Stavi-
how do i know you will givwe me the points
Hey, I don't think EE is the right place for such behaviour !
If you can offer a good answer, you'll get credits...definitely !

Can you tell me a reason why I shouldn't award you the points ???

So, I would appreciate your help and give you the lousy 50 pts...but of course you have to offer something first.

Regards
-Stavi-
It is going to do the same thing on the emulator he sends you.  You have to make sure your joystick is working in order for the game to work.

scrapdog,

what can I do ?
I really want this damn game working...my joystick works fine under WIN98...do I have to check if it works under DOS environment ?
As I said, my joystick buttons are assigned to valid keys, but without any effect when I press them.
Maybe the best thing would be a step-by-step instruction I begged for in my previous post.

MRWILLZ:
before sending me anything, wait until I know how this goes on.

-Stavi-
It worked guys =:-))

I had to fiddel around with joystick options and its special options (bit settings and **** like this) coz it seemed that everything was misconfigured.

Now I can use both, joystick AND keyboard to proceed in the game (and get past the splash screen).

The most helpful suggestions were given by **scrapdog**, so it would be quite fair to award him the points.

Best regards
