Requesting opinions on using Visual Basic and WS-FTP Pro Development Kit to create a daemen/listener to port text files into an Oracle database? Does WS-FTP provide a suitable solution for this task, or is there a better solution out there? Looking for advice from someone who has gone down this road.

Use the the VB INET Control? You can FTP with it. Just make sure you have sp3 on vb5.

I have VB4 (don't see INET control) and could upgrade to VB5. What is sp3?

Move up to VB5, you'll be much happier.

SP3 is Service Pak 3 for VB5. You can get it from Microsoft.

INET is under Components item of the Projects menu. It's listed as Microsft Internet Transfer Control.

SP3 has alot of fixes for the INET control.
