As you have been as vague as possible with details I will make some assumptions and attempt to still answer the question (worth more than 50 points I'd say, although you've posted it twice so that's a 100 to start with)
I assume one of these two options:
1. You are referring to an e-mail application running under Linux. Within that application will be an SMTP server option, through which all outgoing e-mails are forwarded. It may be that the adminstrator of this server does not allow SMTP relay. This is quite common as it is a common route for spammers to send bulk e-mails through. You need to ask to be allowed to relay (depends on what relation you are to the person running the server) or use a different relay, preferably one of your own, or your ISP's if they allow. You could do without one and send e-mail direct to the recipient domain's mailserver.
2. You are referring to an application on a PC which uses your Linux box as it's mail relay and you are not allowing relaying on your sendmail server (This is the default option with the latest sendmail)

If this is completely off the mark, then give some more info on application, where error message appears etc. etc. or nobody will be able to help you. If this is even close, give me some points !!

Hope this helps
