How do I fix Advanced Power management Support device when puter says it is not working properly and is showing code 10 in properties

I think this might be why cannot receive urls that play music but can access anything else in internet explorer

Jill, here's the book answer to your question. Following that is a plan to develop what is wrong.

Code 10

If the device has a "FailReasonString" value in its hardware key, that
string is displayed as the error message. The driver or enumerator places
this registry string value there. If there is no "FailReasonString" in the
hardware key, the following generic error message is displayed:
 
   This device is either not present, not working properly, or does not
   have all the drivers installed. (Code 10)
 
   Try upgrading the device drivers for this device.
 
Solution button: Update Driver
 
To resolve this error code, make sure the device is connected to the
computer correctly. For example, make sure all cables are plugged in fully
and that all adapter cards are properly seated. Follow the suggested
solution button and update the device driver. It may be possible to remove
the device and redetect it using the Add New Hardware wizard.

First: When you start (boot) your system, boot into the BIOS (CMOS) setup. In there you will find a section for power management presuming that your computer supports power management. Enable power management features there, save the settings and let the system boot through.

Next, go into device manager, expand the area with the error if it is not already expanded, highlight the device and click remove. Now close all windows and restart your system.

If the above didn't fix the problem, we'll have to take a look at the Bios on the motherboard to determine if it needs to be updated. To do this, I need the make, model and age of the computer.

Have to find my copy of win98 to redownload vpowerd.vxd apparently that is the problem thanks again

Okay, but let me know whether or not everything is okay. BTW: How have you determined that vpowerd.vxd was the problem? And if you can't find the disk, let me know and I'll email you the most current file version.

tried everything else but that seems to be only file missing and cannot find disc thanks anyway
