I understand that Outlook is stored in Windows\Outlook as a .pst file, but how idi the .xnk file get created. This is what I did:  I wanted to save an outlook folder that I created to a diskett.  When I checked the properties on this file it read as a .xnk file.  When I try to put the file back in Outlood as a folder it does work the same.  It is read as Mail only.

Bottom line:  How does a .xnk file releate to a .pst file.

A .xnk file is just like a Windows Shortcut ( .lnk file ), but it's for Exchange. All that you have is really a shortcut pointing to a pst file. You can't really do anything with the .xnk file since it doesn't contain messages but a pointer to where messages are (or were).
