getting the caption from an edit box

Does anyone know how to get the text from within an edit box from an outside application??  I can get the handle to the window adn then get the handle to the edit box...but getting the text that is in there is another story.  Thanks.  Sorry this only for 50 points...its all i have.

Try using the WM_GETTEXT message:

CWnd* pWnd = your edit;
TCHAR buffer[200];

pWnd->SendMessage(WM_GETTEXT, (WPARAM)200, (LPARAM)buffer);
