whenever I add client for ms windows and reboot, windows fails to start and IOS error / windows protection error.

My computer gives IOS Error on serial and kicks me to safe mode. what would this indicate as problem

You didn't give much info about your pc, like which version of windows, memory and so on, which makes your problem not so (easy)but I assume that this is the answer to your problem:
