How do I test VB5 cgi?

I have a script written in vb5 that I want to test because I am trying to learn cgi..but I don't know how to test it. I have a cgi-bin at www.virtualave.net and I compiled the exe and put it in there...but it just downloads the cgi exe. How do you test cgi?? Please help.

You might not be able to run .EXE 'CGI scripts' on your server unless they are running Windows NT.  If they are running Windows NT (something to e-mail them and ask), then you should be able to run it like any other script.  I know running a VB CGI script works with the Xitami web server for Windows, not sure if it works with IIS correctly though, might have to go to the URL like this...

or something to that effect.  If they aren't running a version of Windows, you can't really run CGI scripts like that in Unix, you'd need to learn Perl (which isn't a whole lot different than VB)  Hope it helps a little bit.
