Avant Guard and Times Roman

I need to find out for school who invented Times Roman, who invented Avant Guard, what those two fonts origional use was and one or two other fonts also invented by those designers. Who knows? This should be an easy one, these are common fonts...

Hi. I found the info on Avant guard in the sites you listed, but not the info on Times Roman. Find me that info and the fifty points are yours my man (or woman)!

Sorry, I mis-read your question slightly and referred to Times New Roman, and not Times Roman. Times Roman goes back a long time and the references at http://www.redsun.com/type/abriefhistoryoftype/ refer to the old Roman fonts. Also there is a reference to Times New Roman,  (Lardent/Morison, 1931).
If you look at: http://www.new-deal.com/hottips/font/cranfont.html, the page refers briefly
to Times Roman.
Also look at: http://www.truetype.demon.co.uk/articles/times.htm for Times Roman and Times New Roman history.
