Have you tried to install Media Player 6?

Try Downloading it from

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/mediaplayer/download/default.asp

You may also want to check the following.

Go to Start/Run/ SYSEDIT

Open the Win.ini window and look for the section titled
[mci extensions]

It should have the following values under it

avi=AVIVideo
wav=waveaudio

If not, then just type them in. it should look as follows

[mci extensions]
avi=AVIVideo
wav=waveaudio

Just make sure to go to File and save after you make the changes.
Reboot and you should be in buisiness.
