When I first start my project using studio wizard, I did not go into Document template to setup file extension. Is there a way to set the file extension to be used in FILE-OPEN SAVE SAVE AS... if people did not set it up at the begining of start project.

Yes there is,

The string table in your applications resources is where you need to make the change.  Look up the documentation for this method: CDocTemplate::GetDocString.  It'll tell you everything you need to know to make those changes successfully.
