If you place the NAME tag in your framset :

<HTML><HEAD><TITLE>test</TITLE></HEAD>
<FRAMESET COLS="20%,80%" FRAMEBORDER="0" FRAMESPACING="0" BORDER="0">
 <FRAME NAME="left" SRC="hyper.html" MARGINWIDTH="0" MARGINHEIGHT="0" SCROLLING="no" FRAMEBORDER="0" NORESIZE>
 <FRAME NAME="right" SRC="main.html" MARGINWIDTH="0" MARGINHEIGHT="0" SCROLLING="no" FRAMEBORDER="0" NORESIZE>
</FRAMESET>
</HTML>

then you see that the left frame has the name "left" and the right frame "right"

now the hyperlink in the left frame should be :

<A HREF="whatever.html" TARGET="right">bla</A>

the TARGET tag makes the page load in the other frame...
if you want the new page to load on top of both frames ues :

TARGET="_top"

watch the non capitals here...

Hope it helps.
