To set the cache lower you need to go into the prefrences and choose Advanced on the left side. Then choose the cache option. You can select the cache size there.

from the EDIT menu in netscape, choosse PREFERENCES and clcik the triangle beside the ADVANCED option. Click on CACHE. Set the cache size to something like 1MB (or 500) and not more than 5MB depending on hwo much you surf. for better resutls, create a RAM disk using hte memory control panel and use that for your cache in netscape. Using a RAM disk will cause the contents of the cache folder to reset each time the computer is restarted unless you check the option in the memory control panel to save the contents on shut down. Optionally (and this is what I do) create a folder on your desktop called CACHE. Point netscape and IE to this folder to use as the cache storage place. Then, when every you want, empty it for best results. Be sure to set the size of the cache to 1-5MB however no matter what you do.

When I wrote (500) I meant 500K. In the field for typing the size of the cache, you type a number from 1k to whatever. A good size is 1MB to 5 MB which would be 1000 or 5000 roughly.

netscape 4.08 collects files. Your cache in pref. file should be set to "clear" cache every time you access netscape. I've got mine set at 7680 Kbites but then, I am also using the latest netscape 4.6. Netscape is free and you should upgrade to the newer version.
In your case set your cache pref to 500 kb and make sure you click the radio button to clear you cache every time you open netscape.
