ISDN modem line

I just got a Macintosh ISDN Modem, the 3ComImpact, from eBay.com, but i can't seem to get it to work.  Whats the difference of using this modem from a 28.8 one?  Do i need a special phone line?  How do i get it?  Do I need special software, or do i just modify FreePPP?

To be able to use an ISDN modem you have to have an ISDN phone line.  It's kind of like buying a CD player but not the head phones.  You have to have a connection that will support ISDN.  Normal phone lines can only operated at speeds up to 56k bps.  ISDN technology runs at 115k bps.Call your local phone company.  They should be able to hook you up.  I would also contact your ISP, to see if they support ISDN.

I guess thats a sufficient answer, but could someone tell me here just how much that will cost me?  Do they have to send a technician to install the line?
