Does anyone know a good .OCX file, or have any examples of coding that allow VB 6 to read in btrieve records?

Probably not what you're looking for but what about putting the tables into Access and reading them with ODBC or setting up a DSN?

I have run into and had to work with Btrieve a lot.  I know of only two controls.  writes a control named "Classic control for Btrieve".  I own this one and have found it to work well.  Also see
for additional information.

The other option is to go directly to Pervasive, the maker of Btrieve.  From them you can purchase the Pervasive.SQL SDK.  That includes an ActiveX Control amoung other things.
I own this control myself but have not had much of a chance to use it.  It does come with pretty good doc's on the CD.

Watch which version (of Btrieve) you need to work with, I have found the Classic control to work better across older versions of Btrieve. ie. 6.15x.  I believe the Pervasive.SQL ActiveX control only work with the latest version of Btrieve (7.0 or P.SQL), but I would have to test that or as Pervasive.

Hope this helps....Good Luck

A quick comment, the Pervasive.SQL SDK comes with some examples of API calls that one could use to access Btrieve as well.  For now I'm sticking with using a control.
