Avoiding the new document @ Word startup

I know that under Word97 on WIN95/98 I can defeat the initial blank document by starting Word using the /n switch (e.g. <WINWORD.EXE /n>).

I'd like to achieve the same thing on the Mac (OS8) - any ideas?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

In the preferences/options, it's quite possible that there is an option to have the program do different things at startup. Have you explored this option?

I couldn't find it. Do you know where it is?
Unfortunately, I don't have a copy of Word 98 for Mac handy. It would seem logical to assume that if the solution to your issue is not in the preferences panel or the options panel, then it does not exist. The other option here is to go to your local bookstore and look in a book on this application.
