SysAdmin Role and Groups

I have groups created in NT, and set up in SQL 7.  Can I set a group as SysAdmin Role for just a particular database?  Or, does the SysAdmin Role remain for any database the group has access to?

What suggestions would you have to limit the Group's SysAdmin rights in other databases?

Any suggestions/solutions are appreciated!

Hi :)

Sysadmin is not a database level role, it is a server wide role and any member of this role can do any thing server wide.

U can use the db_owner or the db_dlladmin role of individual databases to administer that particular database.

db_onwer role has all permissions in the database and db_dlladmin role can issue ALL DDL (data defination language statements like create, alter, drop), but cannot issue GRANT, REVOKE, or DENY statements, for these u can use the db_securityadminrole which can manage all permissions, object ownerships, roles and role memberships.

If your requirement is that user should admin whole thing in a particular database then add that user or group to db_onwer fixed database role.

Hope this help and give u insight.
