Screwed up screen res. w/ STB128

Alrighty, I set my screen resolution in the windows display properties as hi as they go, clicked 'apply' and then the screen went black and the monitor went into low power mode. It's a standard gateway 17' monitor...

Thank ya.

You can return back your display by using the safe mode option.

Before booting Windows, press F8 and select Safe Mode. Once you are there, choose Display in Control Panel and set back your default display. You Gateway monitor cannot hold up to that high Resolution.

You may have to hold down the ' Ctrl ' key to access the menu for safe mode.
If you have Windows 95 press the F8 key when you see Starting Windows 95
appear on the screen and select safe mode from the menu. Boot into Windows
95 in safe mode and select the lowest resolution and re-boot your computer.

If you have Windows 98 hold down the ctrl key while pressing F5 when you see
Windows 98 starting. slect SAFE MODE and do as above.

After you reboot with either OS advance your resolution to only the maximum
that is permitted in your monitor manual, and no more. Many graphics cards
no days are capable of displaying higher resolutions at a greater refresh rate
than some of the monitors can stand.

Hopefully, you have not damaged your monitor. If you have you will have to
reapir the monitor, before the above will work.

Years ago I ruined a CTX monitor by setting it in 1064 X 768 at 256 colors
with a 75 hz refresh, when it could only display 800 x 600 in 16 colors max.
at a60 hz refresh.  Only after I had damaged it did I read the manual.

Now I read the manual first.
