Where can I get a free(no beta) copy of Linux to install in my pc ?
I have a Pentium 133 MHZ machine that I want to use to experiment with Linux.

But downloading will be even more expensive then buying a distribution in your software store.

more expensive ? how ? Also, got directed to an ftp site.
I am not sure which is the right file to download. There is a ton of stuff there. Tell me exactly what dirs/files I need. thanks.

List of many mirrors.
I can't tell you which files you need since I don't know what you want to install. Linux alone. X, server-software, ...
A full distribution will have many 100MBs. I don't know what your download cost, but cheap distributions are sold for about 30 US$. Better distributions like redhat are more expensive but it will include printed manuals and support. So I don't think that donwload will be the best way.
