BDE V.5 MTS Pooling

What is the setting 'MTS POOLING' in the System|Init tab of BDE Administrator 5.0

It says that enabling it decreases connection times, so what's the catch ? otherwise I'd expect it be enabled as a default.

only delphi4 supports this and it is necessary to turn on MTS Pooling to support MTS Transactions and connection pooling in an MTS environment (e.g. a MTS object).

The *other* way you can use this option is to turn the option on for your normal database applications (i.e. non-MTS applications). Doing that, the BDE will still use the MTS pooling and performance should increase dramatically. There is a demo in D4 that demonstrates this.

Thanks,

It looks like I should turn it back off then since I'm only using D3.
