Recently, I bought a new VB book with a CD.  But all project s in the CD are Read only. It don't allow me to change anything even I copied these files under my own's direct and uncheck Read Only on these files. Here is the error message: Can't edit module.
Could you please tell me how I can make these files from Read only to Write and Read?

you don't by any chance have the 'source code control' add-in loaded, do you?

Often when one copies items off of a CD they are set to be READ ONLY. If you go in through the Explorer and select all of the files in question, then do a right click and display "Properties".

Under the General tab, turn off the READ ONLY check box.

This should solve your problem.

I had tried the same way what you suggest before I put my question here, but this way didn't work.

In through the Explorer and select all of the files in question, then do a right click and display "Properties".
Under the General tab, turn off the READ ONLY check box.

goto your menu called add-ins, click on add-in mamager...  When the window comes up with the list of Add-ins look for 'source code control', it's usually the third or fourth in the list.  Click on the source code control item and make sure none of the check box's down below are checked.  Also, if it is loaded, it will say so in the list (ie: Source Code Control      loaded)
