POP SERVER on REDHAT 6.0
First of all, I'm very sorry but this is all the points I have right now...I will increase points on this questions as soon as i get more. I've had a lot of problems recently and thus used a lot of points.

I'm tring to install a POP3 server on RedHat 6.0. This is because I cannot get POP3d to work, which would be fine. All that happens is when I telnet to it using 'telnet pop.dpworld.net pop-3' it says 'connected' but i don't get a response from the pop deamon like 'POP3d version....'. After a couple of seconds it times out on me.
I have edited inetd.conf and uncommented pop-3 like necessary and yes /etc/services is setup properly.
The only thing i can think of is maybe i am not loading one of the system services i need (like a network one) but i don't think since i've tried enabling them.
So after giving up here I decided to try cucipop (cubic Circle's pop3 server). I couldn't even compile it because i kept getting an error on line58 or something of authenticate.c (not sure if that's the exact file but i think so). So i gave up with this one.
Next i tried QPOPPER 2.53 fro qualcomm. I got it compiled ok and copied it and enabled it in inetd.conf accordingly. when i telnet to the pop3 port it comes up and says 'QPOPPER 2.53....etc.' and it seems great.
So next i type 'user blah' (blah being a real user setup on the machine' then i type 'pass blah' (being their password).
Qpopper tells me that it is the wrong password.
I read the install file and found that something about if you're using shadow passwd that you need to tell it in Makefile. It says to edit the DEFS section to include
-DAUTHFILE=\"/etc/shadow\"
I did this and tried to remake popper but it said that there were no changes to make or something.
I AM DESPERATE AND WILL USE ANY OF THESE DEAMONS OR ANY OTHER ONE THAT WILL WORK DEPENDING ON WHICH PROBLEM SOMEONE CAN SOLVE FOR ME!!!!!!!
