Is 249 mb enough for Linux and X windows system and whatever else I need to get on the internet ? ( I.E Netscape Communicator ). Or would it be the best to have 1 gb, to get all the software packages on. I'm using Redhat 6.2.

get partition magic from powerquest. this will allow you to re-partition your disk without destroying your actual configuration (make sure you have enough free disk space on your actual partitions, then defrag them).

otherways you will be up to make a backup.....

depens on what you wanna install. let's say that 249 mb are not much.... if you knew enough to select every singular package, you could do it, but i recomand you anyway to use something about 600 mb or more.
