Windows 2000

Anybody have comments pro or con on windows as opposed to the new releaseof Windows98?

Check out Experts Exchange under Windows NT5.  This is the old name for W2K.  You'll see lots of bugfixes and problems.  'Nuff said.
egrayman, really there is no comparison between the two operating systems. Yes, as with any pre-release software, there are many bugs and an equal amount of fixes, but like I said, there's no similarity between the two operating systems other than maybe their GUI, and even that is different.

The major difference between the two is that Windows 98 does not control either CPU or memory usage, the applications essentially grab whatever they think they need. In addition, in Win98, there's is usually no way to kill the running of an application and then restarting it without rebooting. And it goes without saying that NT enables multiple CPU's where 98 never will.

NT, on the otherhand, enables you to control CPU use as well as allocated memory. Further, if an application locks up, you can kill the app and restart it as it doesn't lock the entire OS.
