starting HTML files from CD

I have a Help file written in HTML and was wondering how to have it start right up from a CD.  I can make it so the user double clicks on a folder, but it would look better if it just started right up when loading the CD.  Any Ideas?

Hi kdp

What about using macromedia director, it can certainly do this and a whole lot more. You can get an evaluation copy at this URL:http://www.macromedia.com/software/downloads/index_dirupdates.fhtml

Cheers

If you wish to start a CD automatically on PC you need to create a text file called autorun.inf in the the root directory of the CD this text file should contain the the path and name of the program to be started as shown below.

OPEN=path/name

if you include a copy of the browser on the CD this could be one solution or you should be able to call the browser on the hard drive.  You may have to work a little harder if you wish to check for the existance of more than one browser or different browsers i.e. explorer.exe or nscape.exe. (these are not the correct filename just examples)

if this is what you are looking for reject the above answer and I will see if I can find better information for you.

I've had a bit more of a think this should work with the default browser for the extension *.htm

[AutoRun]
Shell\OpenCD\Command = start pathfromcdroot\yourhtm.htm

or..

[AutoRun]
open=start pathfromcdroot\yourhtm.htm

or..
[AutoRun]
open=start.bat

(start.bat on CD root)
@echo off
start index.htm

Start.exe is located in %windir%\command on Win95
and as a command in the ntoskrnl.dll on NT. Start
will launch anything that's installed on your system
based on the extension/association, (ie. default browser,
default text editor, default CAD system, etc..)

I still haven't tried this yet because they are still trying to decide what they want to do but I believe this would work for what I was asking for.  Thanks
