Size Of QUERY_STRING

I am using C language to write my CGI program.
what is the maximum size for QUERY_STRING?
How can i increase the size for QUERY_STRING?

It depends on whatever limits the server or the browser impose.
If this is a problem, you may be able to avoid those limits by using POST instead of GET.

query string have a max of 256 characters... no way to expand. posting your data via post instead of get gives your lots more info but the data is only a query string if its a ? in the browser used by the get form posting method. there is now way to increase this unfortunatley

tree123, are your query strings being limited to 256 characters by your browser or by your server?
Most allow a lot more.  Which versions are you using?

the limitation is from the browser as it actually has to be able to support the number of letters that follow the ?. i didn't know about support for longer strings, but i stick to the old school code where possible to keep everyone happy. if you know of a good online link for ssi related issues let me know. :-)
