Are "nameservers" ( DNS IP addresses) specified in the
/etc/resolv.conf  file ?

Type "  cat /etc/resolv.conf" What do you get ?

Howard Mann
It may be in your ppp.options file or in an /etc/ppp/options file.

KPPP docs say that you should not have the lock option enabled on your modem.

I had to tweak mine quite a bit to get it to work.

Under settings you could try the increasing the different delays for modem communication in general.

Hope this points you in some direction toward success.

are you trying to use kppp as root or user?
I think you must hav /usr/sbin/pppd set suid root. (chmod +s /usr/sbin/pppd)
