remove shortcut icon from toolbar tray

Hi.  I am wanting to get rid of some anoying shortcut icons that load onto my toolbar (traybar?) at startup.  Some programs when loaded and setup, seem to want to put a shortcut icon in about everywhere they can!  I am talking about on the right side of my toolbar by the clock.  I have a volume control icon and an icq "NetDetect" icon that is not wanted there!  Thanks.

to remove the net detect icon, double click on it, then select the ICQ button, lower left, go to preferences.  Select connections, and deselect the check mark by Launch ICQ at Startup.  That should take care of that one.  to take the volume control off,  go to start, settings, control panels.  Double click on the mulitmedia control panel.  Deselect Show Volume control on the Taskbar.  Should take care of the problem!
