"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi,

this sounds a bit strange to me. Why do you want to do all the work the VCL does for you? You should be aware that creating all those windows and controls is expensive programming work. If you just want to do the painting yourself then there are better (and much easier) solutions available.

you call it like this...

hWnd := CreateWindowEx(..);

the params that need to be filled in the CreateWindowEx() are the classname, title name, windows style (WS_OVERLAPPEDWINDOW), x, y, width, height, and the hInstance param. that's all you need... thec check to see if the window handle is ZERO...

if hWnd = 0 then begin
  Result := 0;
  Exit;
end;

....
the message-pump..

Result := Msg.wParam;
end.

That's about it.. If you need a complete  working example, please let me know, and as soon as I get home I'll post it here..

What's your e-mail so I can send you the code? I tried posting it here, but it gives me internal errors.. so I guess we'll be better off if I send the code over the e-mail...
