xircom ethernet card works one way only

i have a toshiba portege 3020ct laptop with redhat 6.0 and a xircom creditcard ethernet 10/100 card. the card is recognised at boot time the light on the connector goes on, but the light on the hubside does NOT go on. when i ping i can see the connector light flash but still nothing on the hubsite. how can this be fixed?

when i dualboot into micros*ft all works fine...

If you have the flat one with an external RJ45 "dongle" it should work.
The adapter with integrated RJ45 that fills two pcmcia slots almost works. Your description sounds like you have the fat one. I, and some of my colleagues, have lost a lot of working hours trying to get this to work, and still haven't figured it out.

it is the flat one with external dongle, now what?
Can you please provide the output of ifconfig and lsmod?
Do you have a static ip address or do you use dhcp?
everything works with same hw config if i run windows...
